It will not generally be thought of as the best game in the realm of wagering, but keno has loads of keen followers. As well it should! It’s a consistently thrilling lotto-like game that’s uncomplicated to learn, abundantly available in several different formats, and one that can yield millions of dollars for people who master its numerous subtle rules. But let’s deal with the basics here.
When explaining keno to amateurs, some wagering pros compare it to bingo. This is at least to a certain degree correct, in that each game is essentially numerical. But to take that comparison too far can be to think too little of the innumerable unique traits that make keno so fun. Not like bingo, keno players have the power to choose the numbers for each card.
Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is given an increased level of personal responsibility by being able to pick as numerous (or as few) numbers as she wants. And it doesn’t take a keno superstar to figure out how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your picked numbers with a every day old#2 pencil like you used when you were in grade 3.
Now that you’ve selected your numbers, take the card back to the girl at the keno stand. The girl will record your numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t drop this (potentially) lucrative piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your loud shirt and wants help out, without a winning slip with you, you will collect precisely $.00 for your actions.
Now there you have strategy #1: always be sure to keep your keno ticket. Let us move on to something a little bit more advanced, ok?
Once you’ve checked off your numbers, settle into a comfy keno booth and watch the action happen on the monitor. That is where the winning numbers appear for us. If you marked winning numbers, mark your card accordingly. Be sure not to drag your feet, or sit there praising yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You must get back to the keno stand to redeem your winnings, as a new drawing will probably get going within 5 minutes.
Strategy number 2: always be sure to get back to the keno booth on time!
Since you can not trust yourself to meet that 5 minute deadline every time, you always have the option of buying a "multi-race" ticket. These include the same set of your chosen numbers on anywhere from two to 20 cards. When the max number of rounds (fitting the amount of tickets) is completed, you will then be able to get off your lazy rump and go collect your winnings.
Yet an additional option is referred to as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which generally allows you make number picks for 30 rounds or more. Golly, you can take vacation to Italy and not have to worry about getting back in time to collect your numbers. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after you purchase it!
So now you are aware of a handful of necessary schemes for winning keno. If you are a knowledgeable player, they might seem very obvious. But it doesn’t hurt to brush up on the fundamentals, and if you are a beginner keno player, every tiny bit of direction will help make your keno playing time more agreeable.
